The Banyan

There is a particular kind of luxury that only a city can offer — and it has nothing to do with the city itself. It is the luxury of disappearing from it completely, without leaving.

The Banyan is that disappearing act.

From the street it announces itself quietly — crisp white rendered geometric forms rising above a wall of mature tropical planting so dense and layered that the house exists almost entirely behind it. Palms, monstera, banana palms, ferns and heliconias press against the boundary in a living green curtain that filters both sight and sound. You are five minutes from the CBD. You would never know it.

Pass through the entry and the city falls away entirely. The rear of The Banyan opens in one fluid gesture — bi-fold glazing retracting on both levels simultaneously, the warm amber interior dissolving into the dark timer deck, the turquoise lap pool glowing ahead, tropical planting on every boundary wall creating absolute seclusion. Oversized rattan pendants hang above the alfresco dining table, their warm light mixing with the pool's turquoise glow at the edges of everything. Ceiling fans turn slowly above. It is, without question, a resort. It just happens to be yours.
